This archive utility supports creating standard ZIP, BH, CAB, GZip, JAR, LHA, LZH and TAR archives. It also supports extracting from ACE, ARC, ARJ, BH, CAB, GZ, JAR, LHA, LZH, RAR, TAR, TGZ, Z, ZIP and ZOO archive formats. PicoZip can also create self-extracting archives from ZIP, ACE, ARJ, BH, JAR, LHA, LZH and RAR files.

It comes with a feature to automate tasks and create backup sets that store the rules for creating a backup. You can then create the same backup any time by choosing the appropriate set.

PicoZip also provides several Explorer shell extensions that allow you to create, extract and perform other archive-related operations from within Internet Explorer. Drag-and-drop functionality is fully supported.

You can carry out various tasks on many archives in a single batch operation. The program can convert between archive formats, help you scan archives for viruses, test integrity of an archive and repair ZIP files.

PicoZip also comes with integrated support for burning archives to CD and DVD.
